Information on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
Legal Information Requirements under Swiss Environmental Law – As of January 2025
1. Legal Basis
As a retailer of products that contain batteries or accumulators or are powered by them, Badertscher Tool AG is obligated under the following Swiss legal provisions to provide information to customers:
- Federal Act on Environmental Protection (USG, SR 814.01) – in particular Art. 30 ff. (Waste Regulations)
- Ordinance on the Reduction of Risks in the Handling of Certain Particularly Hazardous Substances, Preparations, and Articles (ChemRRV, SR 814.81), Annex 2.16 – Batteries and Accumulators
- Ordinance on Waste Prevention and Disposal (VVEA, SR 814.600) – Regulations on take-back and disposal
These regulations require retailers to inform consumers about proper disposal, return options, and the meaning of the labeling symbols.
2. Meaning of the labeling symbols
Batteries and accumulators contained in our products or supplied separately are marked with the following symbols:
Basis: ChemRRV Annex 2.16, Section 2
3. Battery types in our products
The products distributed by Badertscher Tool AG may contain or be supplied with the following batteries and accumulators:
| Type | Typical use | Hazardous substances |

4. Return and Disposal
As a retailer, Badertscher Tool AG is obligated under the ChemRRV to take back used batteries and rechargeable batteries—regardless of whether they were purchased from us. You can dispose of used batteries and rechargeable batteries in the following ways:
- Return to our location: Batteries and rechargeable batteries can be returned free of charge directly at our store location in Belp (during business hours).
- Retail collection points: All major retailers (e.g., Migros, Coop, Mediamarkt, specialty stores) are required to accept returns free of charge.
- Municipal collection points: Your municipality’s waste collection centers and recycling centers accept batteries and rechargeable batteries free of charge.
- INOBAT collection system: The INOBAT Battery Recycling Association organizes collection and recycling throughout Switzerland. You can find collection points at www.inobat.ch.
Legal basis: ChemRRV Annex 2.16, Section 3; USG Art. 30b
5. Upfront disposal fee (advance recycling contribution)
For certain batteries and rechargeable batteries, an advance recycling contribution (ARC) is levied in Switzerland. This is factored directly into the product price and is included in the listed retail price—no separate fee is charged.
The VRB is used by the recognized take-back organization (e.g., INOBAT or SENS eRecycling) to finance the environmentally sound disposal and recycling of batteries and accumulators.
Legal basis: ChemRRV Annex 2.16, Section 4; VVEA
6. Safety Instructions for Lithium Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in Milwaukee power tools (M18™, M12™), require special care:
- Charge batteries only with the original charger provided for this purpose.
- Do not short-circuit, open, deform, heat, or throw batteries into a fire.
- Immediately take damaged or swollen batteries out of service and dispose of them properly — do not dispose of them in household waste.
- Do not store batteries at temperatures below 0 °C or above 40 °C.
- Do not store deeply discharged batteries uncharged for extended periods.
- In case of damage, unusual heat generation, or odor, secure the battery immediately and consult qualified personnel.
